The Prospecting Map and AI features
The Prospecting Map at map.diggingforlegacy.com displays mining tenement boundaries and geological data sourced from the Government of Western Australia. The AI feature generates commentary based on that data. Both are intended as general research and learning tools only. They are not professional geological, prospecting, or legal advice. Users must independently verify tenement access status, ownership, and current restrictions with the WA Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) before entering any ground.
Safety
Gold prospecting in remote Western Australia carries real risks. The Mt Malcolm and broader Goldfields region contains hundreds of unmarked old mine shafts, some over 30 metres deep. There are also snake, vehicle, dehydration, and isolation risks. Mobile coverage across most of the prospecting region is poor or non-existent.
Nothing on this site should be treated as a substitute for appropriate field training, professional safety advice, or proper emergency communications equipment. Users are entirely responsible for their own safety, the safety of others in their party, the condition of their vehicle, their water and food supplies, and their access to emergency communications.
Legal compliance
Prospecting in Western Australia requires a current Miner’s Right and access permission for the ground being prospected. Users are entirely responsible for ensuring their own legal compliance, including but not limited to: holding a current Miner’s Right, securing tenement access permission, respecting heritage areas, and complying with all WA mining and environmental regulations.
