Gear

Gear that survived. Gear that didn’t.

Everything I’ve bought, used, broken, or replaced in my first season as a beginner gold prospector. No “ultimate must-have” lists. Just what worked, what didn’t, and one item that melted on first use.

This page will keep growing as I gather more honest field notes — especially after the August Leonora trip. Until then, the most fleshed-out section is camping and sleep gear.

Sections

  • Camping & Sleep — swag, cooker, the cautionary tale of the 24V kettle that melted
  • The Vehicle — the Prado, fridge slide, lithium setup (coming after the August trip)
  • The Detector — the Minelab GPX 6000 (hired) (coming after the August trip)
  • Comms & Safety — UHF, recovery gear, navigation (coming soon)
